Everything you need to know about MOT testing
Your car needs its first MOT test three years after it was first registered. After that, it needs an MOT every year. You can have your MOT done up to a month (minus a day) before it runs out and keep the same renewal date.
A standard MOT test typically takes around 45-60 minutes to complete. However, we recommend allowing up to 90 minutes in case any issues are discovered that need immediate attention. Same-day service is available for urgent tests.
If your car fails, you'll receive a detailed report of what needs fixing. You can drive your car away if your current MOT certificate is still valid. We offer free retests within 10 working days if repairs are carried out at our centre. You cannot drive without a valid MOT unless going directly to a pre-booked test.
